Question

Blu ray compliant encodes for replication

Hope someone can give some incite. We are looking to possibly use Adobe Media Encoder to create encodes from videos to use with our Blu ray authoring software. However I can’t find out the definitve answer as to whether media encoder creates encodes that are compliant for REPLICATION (not duplication) – as in projects which are sent to be pressed from a glass master for commercial release.

Has anyone successfully passed a project crerated using Media Encoder encodes to a replicator like Sony or Vantiva or the like and had i pass any tests they do and been replicated. Thanks

AME does have Blu-ray H.264 presets. The H.264 Blu-ray output from AME should be BD-compliant at the stream level (correct profile, level, bitrate constraints).

I’ve reached out to @neil wilkes to see if he can comment. Since the demise of Encore, we don’t see many of these questions.

The issues were often not just the encode, but the creation of the required files, done by the authoring software - and Encore had its issues.

Curious, what software are you using?

We currently use DoStudio and Apple Compressor and have done many discs which have gone for replication successfully. I was just looking to see if it was worth adding Media Encoder to our arsenal of tools.
