Compress Large File

How long is your video and what settings have you tried? It sounds like you're not familiar with video formats and transcoding so I won't get too technical, but it's a very complex process. I would try some of the H.264 presets such as Adaptive Bit Rate Medium Quality or Adaptive Bit Rate High Quality. 

If you know that the device the video will be played on supports HEVC (H.265) video then you can get even smaller sizes at the expense of a longer processing time. AME also has presets for HEVC, but not as many. You could try the "Match Source - High Bitrate" preset, but you might even be able to set the quality lower, it just depends on your files.

Ignore any other export formats if a mobile phone or the web is your destination, but also know that you're very likely converting from one highly compressed format to another, and if you added effects or did any audio work, all that has to be rendered before it can be converted. Depending on your machine's capabilities and the length of the video, this can be a long or short process. Without anymore information about your source format, length of edited video, whether or not you're using GPU-acceleration, and what your export settings are, I can only offer broad suggestions.
