We discussed your case in the team. While this might not be very intuitive, we do not overwrite existing files because this might cause data loss for our users. You can either remove the existing file before re-encoding. Or you cchoose a different file name by clicking on the failed item. So my question is: Why did you deactivate the increment option in the first place?

Sorry, but this sounds like a bad excuse. When rendering directly in After Effects for example, it is possible to overwrite Files via Duplicate with Filename.

So my question is: Why keep an check option like the increment option in the preferences when it doesnt work properly? Or is it supposed to cause Errors? Im quite curious.

By default it is not possible to overwrite files in AME, so the standard is like you and your team wants it.  Fair enough.

But why can't you implement an option for users who find it convenient to overwrite files and don't want to click 10 times to overwrite a file?

I'll stick to rendering directly in After Effects until this will be fixed one day. AME is useless for me right now, I'm sorry.
