Question

Encoding speed/utilization changes later in encode

I have a 4k video with HDR content that I am re-encoding.  Using hardware encoding with a RTX 3080ti.  When it started said 17 hours.  Doing Prores 422 output.  It was encoding with about 58% CPU utilization and 19% GPU.  Saw a blip of hard drive activity all the time.  Now 25 hours into the encoding the CPU is going from a constant 100% utilization and 3% GPU utilizatoin and don't really see much write activity.  It's moving just obvioiusly the time went up, the CPU usage changed, GPU usage dropped to almost nothing.  Preview window is also barely moving unlike earlier in the encode.  Oh and I went from 8GB to 4GB of memory usage.  Any idea why this shift happened 3/4 of the way thru the encode?  Using version 22.5 on Windows 10.

Hello,

Would it be possible to get a copy of the project and media you're seeing this issue with? We've heard about this issue a couple of times but not been able to reproduce it.

Regards,

Fergus

Thanks for the reply.  That may be tough.  It's an original M2TS from a BlueRay and is 82 gigs in size.

Side note only item I'm applying ot the footage is NeatVideo.  Would think it's that but went thru most of the footage without issue and have been staring at 1 hour left for like 6 hours.  Note the 1 hour is fluctuating in seconds just never chanigng in general.

If you've got the bandwidth to upload it, we can easily handle that. Let me know...

Can you duplicate the issue with a smaller project? Or by exporting a smaller part of the entire project?

Thanks,

Fergus
