Every so often "Connecting to project" and "Reading XMP" take a REALLY long time.

Every so often "Connecting to project" and "Reading XMP" take a REALLY long time when rendering AE projects.  It happens every couple weeks or so and eventually corrects itself after what seems to be an indescriminate ammount of time.  Anyone know what this is related to?
