Question

Export Settings - Effects - Can you add a BG Image?

I’ve been looking into the Effects panel in AME and I found a way to overlay Images on export. Is there anyway to composite an Image in the back of the clips using AME? Or even just a solid colour.

Looking for a way to make efficient preview files out of my clips with alpha, that doesn’t burn them all in with a Black background. Ideally it can be done with the watch folder for an even more optimized workflow!

If an alpha is present, there is no background in the transparent area to show.

Do you mean that you'd like to see an image or color in the background for when you export source that has an alpha but use a Format and/or Preset that ignores the alpha?

If you use an Output Module setting in the After Effects Render Queue that does not include an alpha, AE will include the Composition Background Color in the resulting movie file.

Thanks for your reply!

Yes, so I have files with alpha that I want to convert to a smaller preview size, but ideally using the Watch Folder function because of the volume of files. Meaning by the time it gets to Media Encoder it's just a file doesn't have a reference for the Composition Background Color.

We can export the preview file at the same time as the actual clip to use BG colours using the Composition Backgrounds, but I wanted to check if there was a way to have Media Encoder take that weight.
