Media Encoder 2017 no longer available?

I was under the impression that all previous versions of software would be available when Creative Cloud was initiated. The recent versions of After Effects won't install because of the drivers installed on my computer, and I have to have the same version of Media Encoder. Is there any way to retrieve the older 2017 Media Encoder download?  The furthest I can go back in Creative Cloud is one year?!?

That was the initial promise, but this changed a couple years ago. I suspect users won't get a completely straight answer, but it could have something to with licenses Adobe pays to other companies and/or the fact that they want us on the latest version of software that we all pay for on a monthly basis.

When you say the newest version won't install because of the drivers, are you referring to your GPU driver? Is the compatability report coming up saying it's out of date? If so, you can actually ignore that (I think there's a link on the bottom of that window to dismiss it). Is your GPU too old to update drivers?

Thanks for the response. When I update the After Effects software, it doesn't work. I get a warning that I need to update the drivers to be compatible (and provides details where to download them.). When I attemt to download the drivers, I get a warning to backup my entire system, because of the chance that it crashes my computer. Fortunately, I kept After Effects so I'm still able to use that, but I recently updated Media Encoder and inadvertantly overwrote my old version. At the time, I didn't realize that Media Encoder has to be the same version as AE.After Effects only exports uncompressed Quicktime - so now I cannot export MP4 compressed files directly from AE - which is unsustainable. I recently exported a Quicktime which was over 4 GB. Was hoping to re-render it using the newer version of Media Encoder, and it was too large and crashed every time, so I have no way to condense it to a usable MP4 file without purchasing a new computer. VERY aggrivating that Adobe lied when it stated Creative Cloud would provide back versions of software!

Can you post a screenshot with the message from the driver update about  backing up your system? GPU drivers definitely can cause problems, but I've never seen them break a system in a way that can't be fixed. You can always roll back to a previous version if something goes wrong. What GPU and driver version do you have now?

Also, as I mentioned before, if you're seeing the error I think you are, you can dismiss the Compatibility Checker at the bottom-right of the window by clicking "continue with issues," although I still recommend upgrading your driver.
Lastly, the latest version of After Effects has returned the ability to export H.264 with a new encoder.

It also sounds like you might have other issues with your system or that you could be running out of storage because a 4GB file is not that large of an export if it is uncompressed. Yes, it's a huge file, but I mean that it's also not uncommon to export files out of AE that are 2-3x that size.
