Media encoder Exporting EXR with black background

Hi, I have these EXR frames coming from 3D software; the background is regular Sky skylighting with no map or texture. When processing all the frames with Media encoder, it will remove the background (Sky), and it will show it as black; the whole background is black.

I know in After Effect you can choose how to export the background, but I don't see any option in media encoder, I already tried Proress 444, H.264 and DNX

thank you.

Correct answer eckiAMETeam

sure, as long is private I can send you a couple frames.

Thanks. I will file a bug for this and link it to this thread. I will keep you posted once we have news.

So you have an After Effects comp, right? Does direct export in After Effects preserve your sky? Did you send over the comp from within After Effects? Do you observe a difference between both exports?

Hi,

No, I am not using After Effects. The idea is not to use it; I need to process really quick 3K+ frames coming from my 3D Software, and transform them to something Premiere can work better, such as DNX or Apple format. These images are EXR 32 Bits. In the media encoder, there is even one tone mapping that adjusts the overbright areas. But it does not give us the option to maintain the background.

Our workaround is to process the images in After Effect, I guess. or work them in Davinci.

So the bug report would then be that AME does not honor the transparency when exporting? Please note that not all video formats support transparency. See here for example: https://www.digitalrebellion.com/blog/posts/list_of_video_formats_supporting_alpha_channels
