Media Encoder fails to save to specified output folder / No option in Presets to save locally

Why is there an option to set a global output folder in the preferences of the media encoder, if that feature simply does'nt work?? Every time I add a new file to the queue, it sets the output path to the windows system document folder, not the one I specified in the preference.  

It would be much easier, if you let us set a local output folder in the presets. Instead, Adobe added lots of (barely useful) option to save to CC Cloud, Behance, Youtube, FTP,  Twitter. Vimeo, Facebook aso. But there is absolutely no option to set a local harddrive folder?

Anyone can tell me how to set an output folder in a way that will actually set an output folder?

You are mention that you: ...I exported a file for rendering from Premiere to Encoder... Means you are setting the output first in Premiere and send it to AME. If this is the case you should get the output path you specify in Premiere. This will not be overwritten. The output folder specified in the AME preference is only in use when you add the project direct in AME, not when sending it from other applications with a specified output path.
Please try to adding the Project direct in AME, does it select the correct output path then?

Hi Fergus, thank you for your quick reply. I am using Adobe Media Encoder Version 22.6.1 (Build 2) on Windows 10 Pro. I set the output folder in Preferences > General. Then quit the application, restarted it. Checked preferences (to see the output folder is still set correctly). Then I exported a file for rendering from Premiere to Encoder. The folder set was the Windows System document folder, not the one I specified. Any ideas what could be causing this? Anything I can try?

Hmm...I don't like giving generic trouble-shooting ideas but I'm a bit stumped on this one and haven't seen it before. I would probably try: 
1. Reinstalling Media Encoder (and deleting its preferences). 

2. Logging in with a different Windows user account. 

3. Trying an entirely different location like an external drive or, if that's what you're already using (looks like it from the screen capture), your local c drive. 

 

Let me know how it goes.

Ok, so this is what I did: 

1.) I tried another hard drive, in this case C:/temp. But that did not work either. 
2.) I tried starting Media Encoder with Admin Priviledges (to see if it is maybe something releated to access rigths issues. That also did not work: 

3.) I then deinstalled Media Encoder (and also checked to remove preferences). Reinstalled and restarted media encoder. Choose default folder. Restarted Media Encoder, then started Premiere. Again, folder was not correct. Again windows document system folder showed up. 

Unfortunately, you did not mention that removing preferences will also remove my presets. I have about 20 presets which are all gone now, but the app still doesnt work.

Still going to try to login with a new windows account.

I'm not able to duplicate your problem. When I set the "Specify output file destination", then drag one or more files into the queue, starting the queue outputs the files into the location I picked. 

 

What version of Media Encoder are you using? I tested the issue on v22.6.1.
