Media Encoder Freezes during export

Media encoder is continually freezing during export.

I am trying to export a 4k Anamorphic timeline (3840x1608) and it continues to hang.

My system is as follows:

Windows 10

Intel i9 9980xe

ASUS X299-E Gaming II Motherboard

Nvidia Titan XP

128gb of RAM

Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm experiencing similar, smallish file only 20 seconds in length but WebM format with alpha channel. Freezes nearly every single time..

Yes....having same issue...it's really frustrating. Just updated to the latest version of After Effects and Media Encoder, as well as latest Nvidia driver...and cannot render an .mp4 without AME freezing. Seems to be using a very large amount of memory...not sure if this is a leak?

Hi PLoung,

We're sorry to hear about this. Is this happening while exporting in any specific format, or is it happening with all of them?

Also, have you tried switching the Renderer to Mercury Playback Engine Software Only & checked if it's exporting properly?

It only seems to happen when exporting this Anamorphic 4k project (20 minutes in length) and as the project gets larger it becomes increasingly more difficult to export.

To be clear, I can get it to work, but it is sporadic in it's efficacy. I have Mercuty engine set to Software as this is a work-around, but it fails at least once everytime. Once it does it freezes my system and I have to hard boot it. This is getting ridiculous, Windows has had to rebuild a number of times due to this issue.
