Question

Need to reduce file size and looking for suggestions

Hi all,

I have a 22 minute long film that exports to 1920x1080 ProRes 422 in Quicktime wrapper at a file size of 28GB.

A festival has requested that the film be exported with these exact specifications, but with a file size limit of 8GB.

They indicate that in worst case scenarios they will accept H.264 in a Quicktime wrapper, but when I export like this, it still makes a 20GB file.

I have not faced this challenge before and I'm looking for suggestions on how to reduce the file size of the Quicktime file without changing the dimensions of the film or the compression settings.

I feel like I'm asking how to shrink a house without causing any damage... but I'm hoping I'm missing something obvious.

Thanks,
Cat

The first thing I missed was ProResLT. When I export the project at ProRes LT, we get it down to 13GB. Is there something more I can do to get the final result down to 8GB? I was hoping to check a box for Variable Frame Rate, but I am assuming this happens automatically in ProResLT and thus is already happening in my 13GB file.
