Premiere Pro Timecode effect not rendering in AME

Hi!

I made a timecode overlay on a transparent video layer in Premiere pro, and want to export to the AME queue. But when I render from AME, the timecode does not show up. I see it in the Premiere Pro export dialog, but once I hit "queue" and AME opens, the timecode is gone. Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks in advance,

Lori

Thanks for the information, Lori. Here's a suggestion to try:

    1. Inside Media Encoder, Preferences > General > Premiere Pro > Import Sequence natively.
    2. Please uncheck this option.
    3. Click OK.
    4. Close Media Encoder and Premiere Pro.
    5. Relaunch them and test the issue on a new project first.

Let me know how that goes.

    Thanks,

    Shivangi

Can some please explain why this must be done, and why it's not just treated like a normal layer? I mean what's the point?

It's something to do with the handoff to AME. If you export directly from Premiere instead of queueing in AME, the timecode should show up.

    Hi Lori,

Thanks for reaching out. Ideally, the exporter used for AME and Premiere Pro are same hence, the exported preview should look same unless there is any change made to the settings/preferences. We're here to help you with that.

    • Are you checking the timecode in the preview on the encoding window in AME or after exporting from AME?

    Let us know.

    Thanks,

Hi Shivangi, thanks for stepping in! The timecode is not present in the resulting render from AME, nor can I see it in the preview in AME. If I render directly from PP, the timecode shows up in the rendered video.

The weird thing is that I can see the timecode in the "export media" preview in PP, before I hit the "queue" button and send it to AME. But over in AME, it's gone. If it is some kind of setting mismatch, where should I look in AME?

Oh, and to be abundantly clear, it is a timecode effect added to a transparent video layer in PP, not the timecode effect that you can add later in the export dialog.

Hope this helps figure it out!

    Cheers,

    Lori
