Quickest Export (1080p, 25 fps, Decent-ish Bitrate) in Premiere or Encoder

Hi there,

I'm editing 30 half hour or longer presentations and I want to find the quickest workflow for this...what would anyone suggest as the quickest/easiest way to export these?

The last export was a custom one at:

h.264

1080p

10,000 bitrate

And it took absolutely forever... 6 hours plus in encoder.

In FCPx there's a 'native' setting for exports (which although produces large files can then be batch transcoded in handbrake or similar) which is pretty fast to export. Is there something like this I could use on Premiere?

Hi Jack,

What are the specs of current computer system?

What kind of footage are you working with? Any effects/filter applied?

H.264 is processor intensive to encode, so it does take longer typically than say .mov or .avi export (less compressed formats). Seems like you are probably on a Mac, so see how long a ProRes export takes. Maybe you can use that as the intermediate and then "batch" to H.264 as you mentioned, whether using HandBrake or Media Encoder, something you can perhaps run overnight?

Of course the bottom line is that a faster computer can make a huge difference - my latest Core i7 PC with 6-core processor tears through H.264 encoding faster than realtime.

If you can post a screen shot of export settings, sometimes we can find a simple settings tweak that can improve export times.
