Over 5min in to rendering a 11min clip in 1080 and not even 10% of the way through... EXTREMELY slow renderring. Both AME & in Premiere using the latest versions.... (unable to share files unfortunately)

This isn't enough information to tell explain where the slowdown is.

First, if you open the Activity Monitor, is there a bottleneck? Is any component (CPU, RAM, GPU, Disk Drive) maxing out?

Second, 1080 doesn't mean anything on its own, we need to know what format your footage was to start with and what format you're exporting to. These both can have a massive impact on encoding times.

Third, are you using a ton of effects?

There are a lot more questions that could be asked, but it would all be guesswork. Please provide more information so we can help you out. For example, you could be editing off of a very slow USB drive or you could be compressing to a very intenstive, but efficient codec like HEVC, or both! There is an infinite number of combinations of things that can cause slowdown, so the Activity Monitor and information about your project and export formats are the best place to start.

No bottleneck and absolutely no maxing out what so ever.

The footage is 4K MP4 footage and im rendering 2 versions, 1 in 4k and 1 in a 1080 version. h.264 @ a low bitrate. No special effects. VERY simple editing, some basic transitions, white balance and curve adjustments in Lumetri. No LUTs, No Plug-Ins. and have disabled any audio plug ins (I use Albeton and have some audio plug ins that have caused render issues in the past)

The thing is I do the same exact thing just about every month and have changed nothing in my work flow.. i firmly believe this is compatability issue with the m1 ultra. I never used to have these problems. Normally my 4K files render in under the lenght of the clip (Ex 11 min will be done in under 6 minutes usually) Now i'm getting over and hour and a half render times. For a 3 day shoot i'll render each day at once. Day 1 might render fine & 2 days later its near impossible to render day 2.

I've tried moving the entire project and its contents to a local drive  (even though i have NEVER had an issue editing or rendering off of my samsung T7s). I've tried copy and pasting contents to a new project. I've tried starting a new project and re editing a clip all together. Ive tried updating Pr & Me. Next will probably be trying older versions.

New Developement: Rendering directly from Premiere gives me normal render times - but this is absolutely useless to me as i am batch rendering 40 clips at once x 2 (a 1080 batch and a 4k batch) Doing that one by one would be an absolute nightmare.

re-installed v23 of both Pr and Me, started a new project file and reedited a clipto test, couldn't open project file in this version because it was incompatible with the newer version of premiere - unfortunate because i'm getting normal render times and going this route would mean I'd have to re edit about 40 clips.
