Adobe XD coediting not working with international designers or people with separate subscriptions?

I added a coworker's company email that works in a different country than me. He also has a separate Adobe subscription from my own, but Adobe XD wouldn't let us coedit, saying we didn't have the permissions (see screenshot).

 

It only worked when he used his personal email. What's going on and how do we get around it so he can work from his business email?
