Adobe XD to publish? I made a big error....

Hi guys.  Being new to these things,  I was really interested when I came across xd. I use godaddy for a few charity websites and looked at this as a way I could really be creative and make a beautiful site.  I thought xd was an app where you can design and publish.  I'm realizing quickly that is not the case. I have no coding experience,  but I really love the xd app. Is this a waste of my time? Am I better to use a thing like godaddy to create content? I have CC, and I have to keep cost down best I can.   Is there a way in the CC world that will accomplish this?  Every time I research it,  the more confused I get.  Is there 3rd party hosting that easily takes xd designs?

Hope to have some clarification because this weekend is nothing but website work.

Thanks in advance

Hey there. Xd is used for experience design, which is designing user flows, wireframes, user interfaces and in the end you get a prototype of the app or website you want to build. The developers then use that prototype as reference to build the actual website. Xd on itself does not export or publish a working website with html/css/js code. There are some plugins for Xd which can take your design and export html/css, but the results vary and are rarely usable.

There is no software out there which can take your design and create a perfect functioning website from it, since it doesn't know the context & relationship of the elements and what each is supposed to do. It sees a rectangle and a text box, doesn't see an input field.

There are platforms which offer drag & drop builders like wix, squarespace, webflow (more advanced), wordpress builders and so on, but you're working in a web environment and more or less "coding" via drag & drop. Software like Xd and Figma works in a different way. They are mostly vector based design tools with some animation functionality.

For a good result, you will always require at least a basic understanding of frontend development to create anything functional that looks and works well.

I really appreciate you taking the time to give advice. Woocommerce was recommended as I am looking to do a site with purchases. In the charitable sector, money is tight, thats why i was hoping cc would work since I am already paying for that. If you have a recommendation other than woocommerce, I am learning I can trust these forums experience.  Ty so much for your time.

No worries. Wordpress / Woocommerce is an okay solution. I can't tell you how easy it would be for you to set it up without prior knowledge, depends on your needs & how complex the whole thing is. There's a lot of clicking, installing plugins for various things and so on, but you can do okay without coding. The advantage is that it's a popular platform and a lot of templates / plugins are available for it.

I imagine you'll easily find a professional locally, whom you can hire to set it up for you. If it's for charity, there's a good chance they will still help out for a reduced or no fee. I've done so myself. Good luck!
