Character Styles transforming when I send the file to a colleague

Question

(Mac user)1. When I open my XD files, they flag Open Sans has 'missing font' - I confirm in Adobe Type and the entire font is synced.2. I replace all the flagged missing fonts with Open Sans and keep working.3. I send the file to a colleague and when they open it, the semi-bold becomes bold and some of the letters disappear.(already did that magic of shutting down the computer, unsync and re-sync the font, etc)This is a huge problem when you have a release to do.
