I need to switch off the ability to save in cloud storage in Adobe XD. Is it possible?

As the end user, I feel exactly that. That they make it intentionally to deceive me to use their cloud while not giving me the option to use it like I need to. I would agree with you if they added the option to save on the cloud but not on the shortcut that all other suite uses. That would be giving me the option. Like: "hey if you ever consider using the cloud you can change the shortcut or use this new one". But nop, they give me other message: "hey I know you are trying to save on the computer but nop, you will save on the cloud and nop you can't change the shortcut. If you want to save like you always did and you do in the other adobe software, here it is a new shortcut...that only works on Adobe XD... thanks.".

I understand how you could feel that way. As a user of many apps, I've often wondered if the app developers have used the features they built, and have been frustrated! And that includes parts of XD.

Sometimes it's good to consider things from the software developer's standpoint. Making preferences requires more work, increases app complexity,  increases development costs, requires at least some UX design for how that works (XD doesn't yet have preferences of any sort). That's not me excusing this behavior... the point I'm trying to make is it there are many factors that go into app development. Maybe the developers wanted to make a preference but didn't have the time or burdget to do so yet. Who knows unless you're on the development team. Again I agree a preference would be nice and I wouldn't think it's that hard to make, but I'm not privy to the internal workings of the XD design and development team. I can understand why they did this and hope they had good intentions for making this decision.

But it's good for Adobe to hear how these descisions make people feel. That's the great thing about user feedback. We can tell companies what we think and hope they listen and change.

This isn't specific to XD, it's EVERY application. So..everytime I save a new doc, extra clicks, which means additional time and energy. Not too stupid to see that Adobe is trying to aggravate us into using the cloud, then when we're full, we'll have to pay for more. We're being supersized!

People have different workflows. As a counter point, with more people working remote, many people want to collaborate more... and cloud files offer real-time sharing and collaboration features local files simply can't. Google Docs is a prime example. It's cloud only and offered real-time collaboration features people had never seen before. It can't even work locally. Same with Figma.. it's only a web app that can ONLY work as a cloud app with cloud files. Adobe apps at least offer the choice of local or cloud. Just wanted to offer an alternative view and the landscape Adobe's working in. I like having a choice because some people want to work locally or cloud based. There are ways I think XD could improve in how it handles all the issues related to cloud files, but at least for the most part we have a choice. Some apps like Photoshop learn your preference and then default to it every time so it's no addition clicks after the first time.

Google Docs and Figma never were a offline standalone software like almost all adobe suite is/were. Now, your points are valid but they do not justify deceiving people to save in the cloud by not telling them and substitute the shortcut that they use for years and not giving option to disable/change that. If Adobe XD wants to be Figma then jsut be a webapp and dont be a standalone offline app at all. That way not one would complain.

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out and using Adobe XD. You can save the file as a local document instead of saving as a cloud document. However, your Creative Cloud membership comes with cloud storage that you can choose to use for backups, link sharing, folder collaboration, and more. The Creative Cloud for desktop application makes it easy to synchronize your local files with your Creative Cloud storage. So if you choose to sync your files to Creative Cloud, you still retain a local copy of your files.

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

Harshika

How do I save the file as a local doc within the XD app? The last time it tried to save as a cloud document I lost multiple hours of work as the file won't open again and just sits and loads forever in adobe XD. When downloaded from my account cloud documents it's missing a bunch of work. I generated A shared link and that has all of the correct content... Please fix the super broken cloud documents and library assets or let me turn it off! It's a nightmare when trying to share other documents with team members on other accounts when all the library assets are missing. So Frustrating.
