Copying objects from different XD files.

Hi,

Apologies if I am missing the abvious.

I am merging two different prototypes into a single XD file.  In copying artboards (some include components) from one XD file into the other I think I have broken some of the components (a red icon link? icon appears in the top right corner). 

 

I did this using simple copy & paste.  Is there a different approach I should be taking to avoid breaking the components?  I did "make local component" and the red icon went away, but I truly don't understand what happened.

 

Any help is appreciated.

    If you make a new component from linked component it create a new master component in the new document and links to a new master component. In that case red icon must be gone.
