Hello @user82573258, you might want to upvote this feture request for the the feature of dragging to multiple directions https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007-adobe-xd-feature-requests/suggestions/39766354-drag-in-multiple-directions I'd use buttons also as you said for a workaround.
