Error 88 when trying to open file

Hi, I have a file I had saved over the cloud and locally as well. I am unable to open it and receive error 88 everytime I try to open it, and locally it says the size of the file is 0kb. I've seen a few posts with this issue, but cannot find a workaround to salvage the contents of this file. I've tried opening it through XD as well as locally and duplicating the file. I am making this post now as I'm afraid this file is corrupted, but don't know why this happened (other older XD files are fine). Any help appreciated greatly!

@default3pkvk482qzyy sorry for the late reply...just got my MacBook returned from being service. How do you prevent it? In the past, I relied solely on cloud storage for my files. However, frequent internet disruptions would sometimes lead to incomplete or corrupted saves. To mitigate this risk, I've adjusted my workflow to prioritize local saving. Now, I save my files locally first and then, if necessary, upload a copy to the cloud as a backup....this might be a good process to follow. 

To answer your initial question—Do you think there is any hope of salvaging the contents? —I'm afraid I have some disappointing news. The answer is no.

@default3pkvk482qzyy right off the bat, error 88 and a file size of 0KB strongly suggest that the Xd file is corrupted. It's difficult to pinpoint the exact cause without further investigation, but something within the file structure is preventing it from being read correctly. Honestly, if the file is 0Kb, that file is gone. I' would be leary to open the file and risk further corruption by working on the same file. The thought of having to start from scratch is daunting, but it might be the safest option to ensure the file remains intact.

Hey, thank you so much for your answer. Do you think there is any hope of salvaging the contents? I don’t know how the file got corrupted, but do you have any advice on how to prevent this from happening again in the future? Or is XD just prone to this happening at some point? (it was a file I worked on a lot so I was wondering if the amount of times it was opened maybe impacted anything?)
