Error Opening XD After Downloading (With Windows 10 Anniversary)

Hi,

I just downloaded the latest version of the XD BETA, and when I try to open the program,

I get the following error:

You'll need a new app to open this adbxd.helper.app

Along with a checkbox "Always use this app" and an OK button - which does nothing.

I have the latest Windows 10

No app directory to find the executable file, like suggested in another forum.

Bug in program? When will it be fixed? How can I launch the program?

This is horrible and shouldn't be happening - also posted about this new app to my Facebook Designers community and my own FB page - if people download and get an error right off the bat, how does this look?? BAD

This indeed worked! Here's what I did exactly:

  • Uninstall from windows app listing (right-click on shortcut link > uninstall)
  • Then go to Creative Cloud app > Click Settings icon at top-right
  • Then click "Check for app updates" (so as to refresh the app)
  • Then, go back to Adobe website for XD
  • Click Download
  • It re-installs from Creative Cloud as normal

Takes a few mins to load for the first time, but it does not show error again, and is working.

Thanks!

I just installed Adobe Creative Cloud and Downloaded XD and XD does not open. I have uninstalled several times and also restarted my PC. When I click on Open XD, my screen flashes and nothing happens. Have been trying different things for a while now with no success.

To those that are still facing this issue, can you try the solution in Adobe XD shows white screen after launch and crashes on Windows and let us know if it helped?

Thanks,

Elyssa,

> No app directory to find the executable file

Correct, XD is installed as a Universal Windows Program (UWP). Try finding Adobe Experience Design through the Window Start menu, right-click > Uninstall, then re-install.

Hope this helps,

Randy
