Experience and feedback about XD.

Sad but my studio is now jumping ship from XD to figma. In the hopes of getting necessary features quickly, was replaced with unnecessary features with a very slow release schedule. All that and a huge host of bugs with "license expired" being the most infuriating and the whole Adobe team's solution to everything being "uninstall, reinstall". Do you realize how much time is lost with this terrible solution to a bug that should of been fixed in 2016???

XD is just missing way to many features to make it a viable professional tool and is roughly about 2 years away from being considered one (especially with the slow release schedule). In your hopes to differentiate XD from other software, you replaced needed features with nice-to-haves and before the Adobe support team pastes a link to "feature request"... that does nothing and means nothing. I've seen the top 5 features in that list for 2 years not be implemented. You have your own agenda which is not in line with your customers. Adobe seems to constantly fall into this issue and for that, we're out.

Hope you one day listen your customers needs rather than what makes a great marketing feature that isn't necessary.

Sorry to hear you’re leaving for another product, but you have to do what is best for your company. I hope you give XD another shot in the future.

Regarding UserVoice, since there’s some curiosity:

  • UserVoice is one of many inputs we have to our product roadmap, not our only one

  • Some features require long-term investment and building up a feature set, not just an individual feature. We release what makes sense (specifically, what has utility) when we have ensured that it is to the quality and performance our customers rely on

  • Once a feature is delivered, it is removed from the list. We have been consistently delivering features from the top 10 list. If I look at the top 10 of all time, we’ve delivered half:

  • Fixed elements

  • Guides

  • Text transform

  • Global style/color edits

  • Layout grid

  • Of the ones that are in progress:

  • We have shared publicly that we are working on bringing animations to components, which would meet #2

  • Tap and hover (#1) are hugely inefficient with artboard > artboard transitions, so we are linking this to animations to components

  • Carousels (#4) will be able to be created with component animation

Hope that helps clear up the confusion.

Hi Snaz1 - The user voice / feature request page does seem to be a bit of a mystery. It would  be helpful for staff to explain how the process works so that we know that making suggestions and voting is taken seriously.

Out of curiosity... are any of the top 5 features (you mention in your post) in line with what is important to your company?

Thanks for the reply!

The user voice feature request page is a complete mystery as they've not tackled any of the top 5 in over 2 years. Im not sure where leadership wants this app to go but it would really help potential customers in knowing the vision ahead of time so we either don't invest so much time, effort and money or we do but be transparent enough to give us a solid understanding so we could make the choice that best suits us.

Yes, the top 5 features in the feature list are the most important to my company.

Hi there,

We apologize for the frustrating experience and thank you for sharing your feedback. Out of 5 top features listed on the user voice page, 3 feature request have been started and you may see them in future releases and for the rest 2, the auto animate feature is already implemented and the scrolling effect is best described in this post Make it share it : Horizontal Scrolling in Adobe XD

We understand that these features are very important for all the user and our team is working on it to provide a seamless experience and it couldn't be possible without your feedback.

We feel sorry for not meeting your expectation, but we all together are making the improvements in the product to make it more user-friendly and convenient product.

Thanks,

Harshika
