Font style being applied to entire block of text

You used to be able to apply a font style to a select portion of text. Now when the style is applied it impacts the entire block of text. This seems to come and go, and I've yet to figure out how to fix it. My XD is up to date. I've relaunched, rebooted, switched to prototype, shared, nothing seems to fix it. Seems like a bug...anybody else having the same issue?

This was happening to me too. I think i found out why. Make sure your CapsLock is not turned on. You sould now be able to apply style to a single element within the text block.
