FTP a prototype?

As Muse has been discontinued, I am looking for another path for our graphic design program for the majors to create unique websites. Prior to Muse, I tried Dreamweaver and found a one-semester class really didn't give us the time to complete the sites. Muse did, plus more projects. One of our professors is now exploring Bootstrap as an option. But, my question is: Even though XD is considered only to design and prototype sites and apps, is there a way to publish the files--directly or indirectly--as working sites to a selected host other than the creative cloud server? Thank you in advance for your input!

When XD publishes a prototype, the URL can be viewed by anyone (you can password protect it). So you can design in XD, publish it for review. The bigger challenge is, unlike Muse, some functionality will be missing. For example, you will not have working input fields in your forms.

Thanks, Chris! But, yes, as I expected. I can't really see the sense in moving from Muse to XD when it seems like a handicapped solution for website creation. (Also, now nervous about how long that app may last.) Will likely have to pursue non-Adobe solutions for our courses. In addition to the Bootstrap Studio direction, another professional suggested Wordpress. With website creation now out of the set (other than Dreamweaver), Affinity is becoming more enticing as an option since Apple has the video side covered. Lots to consider ... thanks again!

I will say the former Muse PM is on the XD team now

    Good luck.
