Hover effect stuck when inside component area

I'm trying to replicate the hover review system similar to the one used on tripadvisor.

I've done both the 1st and 2nd star as example, I was expecting the hover effect to be disabled when it's no longer on the star but it seems it does not as long as it's in the component area.
