Question

How do you export a SVG from Adobe XD to make it work for developers?

Hi everyone,

I have a problem exporting SVG files for the developers, basically the files are corrupt I think. Two different developers complained about this. The same result happens when they download the SVG themselves from the live specs. They also freeze Photoshop or Illustrator when I try to open the SVG icons.
Please help.
Thank you 🙂

If I create an object or group, select it, and go to File > Export > Selected..., and set the Format to SVG and the Styling to either Presentation Attributes or Internal CSS, then I can open either of the exported SVGs with Illustrator without it freezing.

I'm guessing there's something different in your workflow that might be causing the SVG files to get corrupted.

Here's more information on exporting to SVG from Adobe XD:

Hi Myra,

Thanks for your reply.

I am doing the exact same thing, but if I export an icon font as SVG, it creates a corrupt SVG. Downloading the SVG from the live specs delivers the same faulty result, and the icon cannot be used by the developers. I have to open it with Affinity Designer, convert the icon to vector, and theen re-export it. Ironically enought, Affinity Designer can actually open a SVG created with XD, unlike Photoshop or Illustrator.

I'm starting to think that this a problem with Font Awesome alone, it seems that I can export normal text aas SVG without a problem.

Thanks,

Chris

When you say the files are corrupt, do they display at all... display wrong? Can you post one of these corrupt files so we can see if it's actualy "corrupt" or if the developers are having some other issue?
