How to delete document assets in XD?

My XD won't allow me to delete any document assets (character styles, colours, and components). I've tried double-clicking and have been pressing every button possible to get the dropdown menu. Nothing works, restarted XD, updated XD, restarted my computer. Very confused and not finding any alternate solutions. Need this fixed so that I can submit a clean file for my UX class.
