How to find/export images at their original resolution

Hi,

I've come across an issue with Adobe XD CC (I'm on Windows 10 if that makes a difference - 10.0.12.9 Starter).  My designer will put together views at laptop and mobile sizes for me, but includes images at their full resolution.  So, the laptop size may be 1366px horizontally, but the original image he's added may be over 2000px horizontally, or larger.  I know in XD I can simply change the dimensions of the image to export to the size I want - but is there an option to export an image at the size it was originally loaded into XD?

I've tried Design, Web (2x), iOS, and Android exports as PNG files.  In all cases, the file comes out as whatever the width and height as entered into XD are, not the original size the image was when put into XD.

Thanks for your time,

-Tim

    Correct answer Preran

The team confirmed that there isn't a way to know the original resolution at the moment.

You can place a feature request with the team using this link Adobe XD Feedback : Feature Requests & Bugs

I also needed to work with the original. As of Feb, 2022 on my Windows machine the original files were located in:

    Users\MyUserName\Appdata\Local\Temp\MyFileName

Or, you can export for After Effects, navigate down to your file in your After Effects timeline, then right-click on it-->"Reveal in Explorer"(Finder).

Thanks Greg - Save for AE saved me!

(This really should be an option from XD!)

    Hi Tim,

See this article by a product team member http://bit.ly/2Lmm0FI about exporting assets in Adobe XD. Let us know if that helped answer your question.

    Thanks,

    Hi Preran,

Thanks for the link, although I've already been exporting images/assets using those methods already.  My question is - is there a way in XD to see what the original size of an image was before it was scaled into a design?  For example, my designer will make me layouts at 1366 and iPhone 8 sizes.  Of course, when expanding to a typical full screen of 1920x1080 - the images exported from XD become blurry.

I spoke with my designer about this, and he had said all images he loaded into XD were at least 2000px (some up to 7000px) across.  Lo and behold, if I select an image, turn on Lock Aspect and manually change the horizontal pixels to 2000px I get a crisp, larger image.  What I'm not seeing, however, is any sort of history or info about each asset piece to tell me what the original resolution was so I can know to export at that size if needed.

Is this not possible with XD?

I don't think so, as far as I know at least. Let me check with the team and get back to you.
