Images automatically moving to paste board

To correctly use the animate feature you sometimes need to drag objects off screen. However when I do this they automatically get transfered to the pasteboard. I need them to stay on the original artboard, is there a way around this? It was working a couple hours ago, I must have hit a hot key.

      Sure, just make sure you've wired up an auto-animate transition between your two artboards *first*.  Then when you move the elements outside the artboard they'll retain their context.
