Interface with Arduino and Pi

Hello,

I'm trying to create a simple app for my device where a button is pressed and it simply sends a number over to a raspberry pi/arduino. Is there any way to do this using the XD app designer? My thought was to make a send button that sends it back to the server and then sent to my robot (unless someone knows an easier/better way!)
