Hello,

I´m experiencing gradient issue, it occurs when I want to copy a object with linear gradient from illustrator to XD. It copied the object but gradient changed to solid color. Radial gradient is pasted without bug and is editable. When the gradient method is set to “classic” it is not working and pasted object has solid color, when is switched to “perceptual” method it is pasted to xd, but as image in mask, so it is not editable anymore…

original illustrator object which is copied to xd
solid color bug

Thanks for Your reply ! Yeah importing svg or ai file works quite fine with gradients, it is more reliable way. It is shame that such a simple function is bugged. The XD app was great for fast simple UI prototypes which you could copy/paste directly from illustrator that was one of the best powers of XD, no exporting, no converting just copy/paste, edit, remake etc… Maybe it is time to move to other tools like Figma or Principle...

Figma handles it fine as well. Just make sure to check "Copy SVG code” in Illustrator preferences under Clipboard Handling, as some version had switched it off and broke the copy behavior to Figma. Doesn't make a difference with Xd either way.

Xd has been left behind ever since 2019-2020. I enjoyed it too but it is what it is.

You can export said object from Illustrator as svg and import into Xd - that should work fine.

With copy & paste into Xd, just click on the fill swatch - the colors should be correct, and just the point positions are messed up. You can drag on the point that will appear somewhere around the shape and adjust it.

Otherwise - you are correct, it is a bug. Will it get fixed? It's a maintenance mode app, updates are few and far in between, I wouldn't count on it.
