Master component in linked document refuses to function/update

Even though pasting it anew it behaves as expected but this other document it's linked into forces it to remain the same despite "updating" a component. It's troublesome as well, since I can't unlink something without manually replacing all of it.

    Sorry for the inconvenience you are facing. Would you please send a video showing your issue for us to understand it better. And also please mention your version of XD and OS.

    I can't show you any part of these assets as I'm legally not allowed to.

    Here's what happens:
    - update asset prompt appears
    - everything seems to update and no error is shown anywhere

    - the asset supposed to be updated stays the same
