Ongoing Compatibility Issues with Mac & Windows Enterprise

We have a ongoing issue with compatibility. The problems seem to be that Adobe

  • is providing NO backwards compatibility for OS (you must be running the latest version of Windows or Mac to use the latest version),
  • don't consider Windows Enterprise as part of their spec (which - you know - really odd and short sighted), and
  • also don't provide either
    • (a) a way to save files to an older format directly in XD, or
    • (b) some kind of conversion tool.

We have a team account - so it would be great if Adobe could check other team members and let us know that we might be going out of sync on a new version - because I had no idea when I updated last week (as opposed to the other updates I had already done) it would make my files incompatible. And I'm guessing this is pretty doable because I'm also guessing (I'd bet on it) Adobe knows what OS a version of XD is installed on.

Is there a planned solution for this?  I've already lost a week of work that's going to need to be redone for me to stay compatible with my Windows team.   And, being we're the test, if these kind of issues are going to be ongoing, I'd guess we won't be able to stay with this solution.

Anyone else with same issues?

With as fast as web design tools such as Adobe XD, Sketch, InVision Studio, etc are developing (and competing with each other), I doubt you'll find a focus on backward compatibility for quite to some time until these apps develop much more. All of them have the issues you mention.

Adobe XD can't even draw a manual guide or set space after a paragraph, so I don't expect things like saving back to an older version of XD. The programmers have so many features they need to build, rather than spending a ton of time on dealing with old versions. Now that Creative Cloud lets people upgrade to the latest version, that's kind of the software world we live in. Yes I know that includes complications, but it is what it is.

So, you're saying all other tools? JustinMind, Invision (browser based), and so on?  The biggest issue I'm having is that our whole team isn't on the same platform and also, the corp computers aren't on the latest version of Windows Enterprise and XD wants everyone to be on the latest version of whichever platform.

I didn't say all tools, but the majority of these types of design apps are being developed very quickly right now. Adobe XD is still quite new and does require a new OS, which is quite usual for new apps.
