Repeat grids drop multiple photos

I have problems with repeat grid, when I try to drop multiple pictures it's not working.

To make sure you're doing it right, you make the Repeat Grid, then leave XD and from your Desktop you drag photos onto the grid in XD. Is that what you're doing?
