[Share]-Live Preview Mac to Samsung (SM-J530Y) will not see device in XD.

This seems to be a well versed topic without a consistent solution. But this is what happening atm. My configuration:

  • Running Android 9 on a Samsung J5 (SM-J530Y)
  • Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6
  • XD Version 25.3.12.1 (creative cloud sync 4.3.24.11)
  • XD on Android Device 26.0.0 (27532)
  1. Checked USB configuration to use MTP
  2. Tried this procedure in this response
  3. Tried revoking USB debugging access and re-connecting.
  4. Tried re-installing app on device and re-connecting

 

With testing, I worked this out.

Using same mac and usb cable, connect Android Pixel (1st gen) running

  • Android 10 and
  • XD on device (version 25.0.0 build 26501)

I can run live preview (I used a Micro-USB-to-USB-C adaptor to connect the pixel).  The only notable difference was as USB-C on the Pixel vs micro-USB on the Samsung and an older version of XD on the device. Hope this helps..
