Soft-locking while working

I updated XD this week and the functionality freezes throughout working consistently.  when it happens I am unable to interact within the canvas window.  I can interact with the file menu, hover over the document assets but nothing else.

 

It isn't exactly a crash, it's a soft freeze in my case.  I'm encountering it whenever I need to interact with objects in my canvas.  Fonts, shapes, components, artboards.  Especially if I'm making multiple changes to a asset. 

 

I can break out of this by tricking XD into zooming in and out of the canvas, but otherwise I cannot interact or use any tools unless I do this work around (they don't work: can't add a shape, can't edit or add a font).

 

I need to revert to the previous version of XD, otherwise I can't do my job.

      1. The version of XD & OS.
      2. Is this happening with a specific file or multiple files?
      3. Does any specific action leads to this or it's random?

      hiya, here are the details requested:

      1: 44.1.2 and Win 10 enterprise v.1909

       

      2: i haven't tried to repro in depth, not sure there

       

      3: i'm not totally positive what steps each time it's frozen, but i can confirm it's happening when:
      >editing fonts for sure.  editing fonts after the fact seems to trigger it frequently, isolated selections or the whole thing. 

      >duplicating something with keyboard shortcuts. selecting objects nestled in groups. 

      > sharing document asset's colors between documents (non-shared library) caused partial-lock but i still had some menu functionality.
