spell check not flagging errors

I have "Spelling and Grammar" checked in XD but it does not flag any errors. I've tested this by typing two words "Recoorded" and "Recorded" and nothing. 

This needs to be fixed.

    I shouldn't have to click INTO the text box to see errors. I should see errors flagged in any state, selected or not selected.
