Subtract not working

When I add a vector box to the bottom of a bitmap graphic to remove that lower part and hit the subtract button with both elements selected, a part of the top gets removed too. I've done is repeatedly with same result. The bottom part that covers my box gets removed - but what's up with the topmost part also getting deleted as well? Also, the subtract button doesn't work unless I click it two times fast. Doesn't have any effect when clicking once. Yet another bug? I'm on W10.

    Mask with shape scales all sides of the image when you drag handles, you can't cut a section manually while dragging the handles. Everything scales proportionally. When you move the image inside the mask and then want to readjust the size your stuck with everything being scaled, can't scale content selectively. So if the aim is to cut this feature is far from optimal, if XD had a functional boolaen operation that could work - or had a scissor tool.


    Double-click on the Masked Object to enter the "edit context". Once in the edit context you can single-click on either the image or the mask (i.e. shape) to resize or re-position either one individually.

    This was a Windows-only bug that has been fixed and will hopefully be in the next build that you receive.

    I just tried a few permutations and combinations and they seem to work fine.

    If you can post an .xd file that repros the issue I can file a bug and it will be addressed.

    Can't see how that would help if your build works. XD is not a very stable application, what fails here can be working there. I see this all the time. The Subtract feature is either working or not working. If you put a vector box on top of a bitmap graphic and preform the same task as I did and that works for you, then it works on your installation. I'm running latest update of both XD and W10. Are you on a Mac?

    I've seen numerous errors on live youtube demonstrations were Adobe says "nothing is wrong", a multitude of textbox errors, crashes when doing two defined operations at the same time, opacity slider changing values when changing text size, problems with textsize variations, textboxes sliced in two halves, fonts missing messages on typefaces that are installed, typefaces that doesn't show up in XD but in every other Adobe app. Etc etc, the list goes on. I could have written a book about it, yet at Adobe HQ everything is all dandy. It's getting kinda hopeless.

    I am not Adobe, I am a lead developer on the project and a human being that cares. I can either help you or not. Your choice.

    Obviously there may be something unique to your scenario and allowing me to repro will allow me to fix.  Otherwise well I can only speculate until the cows come home.
