for windows: Just select the text using 'select' tool, and and just copy it 'ctrl+c', now select 't' text tool and start typing, it has inherited the text setting, you don't need to paste something. 
Remember: dont copy the text, select select the text field, and copy.
It worked for me. Thanks

But it was scrapped or can I copy the font and settings in another way?

By default, we will use the last used typeface / size. You can, however, apply styles by copying an object and using “paste appearance.”

Thank you, Corey. I was about to write to the team that I was unable to reproduce this procedure as well.
