Question

Video Importing Doesnt Work in XD

Latest version, Mac Big Sur 11.6

I literally used the video recording tool in XD from an animated prototype, saved the file (~5MB) and tried to import it back into the same file, then an entirely different file, and both times I am met with the modal telling me XD supports .mp4 at h.264. Well that's what the file was saved as and is marked as.

Super frustrating as once again my workflow using this product is slowed to a crawl because of a usability issue/bug.

Again, this is the video that was captured using the prototype preview record functionality in the same app.

    I face the same issue,
even the adobe stock video file doesn't work.
tried converted file as per requirement but no luck.

Please solve this issue, otherwise, there is no benefit in buying the subscription for such a buggy app.

I'm experiencing this exact same issue on the latest version of XD (47.0.22.9) and macOS (12.1). Definitely seems to be an XD bug.

Hi @jordanm71837611 , as I see it now it's so easy to convert videos in Adobe CC Express, and it's said you can convert videos to use in XD, I'd try it, have a great day! https://youtu.be/VDvfpwfiyL4?t=744

    Hello,

I have exactly the same problem as @jordanm71837611, excepted my 15Mo is out of Adobe Media Encoder.

After several trials, I managed to obtain something watchable (I cannot call it a "video") from AME, H264, Mbps between 0.5 and 1 to stick to the 15 Mo limitation…

My mp4 file won't import in XD. Fine.

@Kenneth Kawamoto, I just tried Adobe Creative Cloud Express > video > convert to MP4…

    I downloaded a 196,2 Mo video, made from a 15 Mo video.

@HARSHIKA_VERMA, all the videos I made, are exported from After Effects, via AME, using H264 codec following XD documentation…

I can certainly import MP4 video files into XD. I always use Adobe Media Encoder to downsize raw video and export from After Effects / Premiere.

What's the duration of your video? Can you try making a short / small video and import? XD is never meant to be a 4K feature-length video player!

    Hi jordanm71837611,

Thank you for reaching out. As per your 2nd screenshot, your video format is MPEG-4 and not Mp4 and they both are different file format. So we would request you to please confirm if you've tried converting the Mpeg-4 format into Mp4 and then try to import again.

Let us know if you still face the issue.

    Thanks,

    Harshika

    Just to clarify - MPEG-4 IS MP4 ("mp4" is just a shorthand / file extension for MPEG-4) @HARSHIKA_VERMA
@jordanm71837611 if you can DM me your video I'm happy to test.

Had a chat with @HARSHIKA_VERMA about this and I shall correct my statement:

MP4 is MPEG-4 Part 14 (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-4_Part_14) so MP4 is part of MPEG-4, and not exactly the same thing strictly speaking.

The video file @jordanm71837611 was referring is MP4 (H.264 codec) and macOS says it is MPEG-4 (because all MP4 files are MPEG-4)
