What do I do with a Prototype?

I'm sorry for such a noob question, but I've been playing around with XD.

My question is this: So, I get a really cool prototype built.  What do I do with that prototype next? How do I use it with, say, Visual Studio to create an app?  I get that I'm creating the UI/UX with XD, but I don't know what to do once I've built my cool app prototypes.  What's the next step?

Sorry for being so ignorant.  I'm sure this is very simple, but I need a push in the right direction.

Thanks in advance, and thanks for not laughing too hard at my question.

The main purpose of XD is to get clients to sign off on the design. You may well have to completely recreate the design in another tool, but the time consuming part (getting the client to like it) has already happened.

If you want to save the developers a little bit of time, XD has plugins added to it, three days ago. One of those plugins exports to HTML5, I believe. This is very recent news! I'm now hoping that someone who was paying more attention at Adobe MAX can reply with the name of the plugin.
