working area on Adobe XD

Hello together,

we are currently working on our website in Adobe XD. We have created pages with our custom dimensions, but unfortunately the workspace is coming to an end. So when you scale the area smaller, a gray square appears. We would like to enlarge this working area. Does anyone know how to do this?

Adobe will be adding support for multiple pages (so you'll have multiple workspaces in a single file), but it's in the backlog so they haven't started it yet, and there's no word on when they'll add that feature.

For now, the only solution if you run out of room is to make a new file.

Like so many other comments, I'm very fond of XD's user interface — at least in comparison to many others, esp Figma. Sadly, I had to give up on XD a year+ ago over issues just like this - essential features going unimplemented across 3, 4+ years of development. For a particular client we went back in and tried again — and was sorely disappointed to see so many promised features that could turn XD into a powerhouse app just languishing.

Cant speak for others but for our work, multiple pages would not be as critical if we could create pasteboards larger than 50k px x 50k px. If we are trying to lay out a website with many pages - for example, if each page layout is spanning 2000-ish pixels, with vertical separators of 200 pixels, that's a maximum of 22 pages — which is often a fraction of the total site scale.

If some pages (Home being the obvious one) are 25k+ pixels high (not unusual in many cases) and one wants to, say, lay out screenshots of the old website across the top half of the pasteboard, to help plan and design a replacement website across the bottom half of the pasteboard - there isn't enough room unless one scales the page layouts down.

Adding in a pages feature would help - but so would making the pasteboard scalable (as it is Illustrator). In FIGMA, the pasteboard max is 30% larger - 65k pixels.

Lack of progress despite promises found on this forum from 2020 makes one suspicious that, like so many Adobe apps before it, XD is being alloted fewer development resources, and may be going the way of Director, Muse, Flash, Fireworks, Contribute, Encore, Prelude, Edge, GoLive CyberStudio, Contribute, Shockwave, and Dreamweaver.  All either going, going... or gone.
