Working with "Mask with Shape?

When I'm placing an image inside a shape, is there a way to slide the image around within the shape to see exactly ho I'd like to crop it. Right now it's trial an error, constantly choosing "Mask with Shape", then undoing it and trying again and again, always guessing. Thanks.
