XD 44: XD freezes while auto saving

Question

A document I've worked on for weeks with no issues suddenly (on Sept 25, 26) will slow to a crawl or freeze up every time it auto-saves, which is every time I move or change even a pixel. I'm now far behind on an important project because I can't do ANYthing while XD is saving. What is the problem? What is the fix? Why is this happening? Is it because Adobe CC servers are overloaded?

I had this issue in combination with additional freezing when doing a select all and adding all text styles to my tokens in order to change fonts. Material uses different levels of opacity so a large number of tokens are generated. Because of the freezing during these steps a miss-click occured and all my text styles were ruined, turned into the same large header text, and were auto-saved and auto-synced despite the software being frozen long enough to warrent a force-close. To make matters worse I can not simply restore to an earlier version to keep my library and linked components which are used in other files. It looks like we can only open an earlier version as a seperate file?

This was an incredibly disappointing experience. I have been having to work out-of-state due to a family emergency and I am forced to utilize slower rural internet. The lack of control over auto-save and sync in this situation results in this large Material UI file (the offical one pointed to by Google) constantly freezing the software making it unusable.
