XD font discrepancy

I designed a site in XD, client approved the site and sent it off to my developer to build. The body copy font was spec'd at 17pt. The developer used the correct font and sizing and yet it looks larger in his test site. I then compared the XD "share" link (which my client approved)  with the XD "desktop preview" (play button on top right) and there is a significant difference between the sizes of everything in the two different views. Why is preview a differen size than the share link? Please help me understand what I am doing wrong so I can avoid this going forward.
