A small complaint about the new Google Play

Hello there,

A couple of days ago, Google changed again its market by introducing the books section.

I don't know whether other people have the same problem I have: since then I have noticed a large decrease of new active users of my app.

Before, there were about 800-900 new ACTIVE users every day (and I haven't had any kind of advertising!).

Yesterday 250... today only 50!

Yesterday I spent a lot of time thinking why the users' number has dropped.

It's not normal that after having 800+ users for a lot of days, just in two days they drop to 50.

Then I realized, the new market is hiding precious result.

Before the last change, a lot of users typed (in my case) "football manager" and my app is the 5th in the list.

After the change, my app is still 5th in the list but the number of results shown are only two (of course, you can push "show more" to see them all).

This simple change was deadly for my app.

I was wondering whether anyone here has noticed this change on their users' numbers with their apps.

Please let me know.

P.S. Obviously it can also be that my app sucks and for this reason users dropped but I'm pretty sure this is not the problem because it has 4.5 rating by 329 users and the drop was statistically too high in 2 days.

Intersting. Ill buy that in the last two days my sales got cut down in half for really no reason. No bad reviews nothing. So this could be the reason. Come on google.

While we are on the subject of google play. Do you have the same issue as I do where about 1/3 of all attempted orders are cancelled by google checkout? Its a huge annoyance I get emails all day long "cancelled order".  My guess is that when the user places the order and then is forced to download the air plug in the cancel the whole operation. Might try captive runtime on the next update.

Hello Mark, my game is free for Android (I put ad banners) and it's a captive version so the user doesn't have to download the runtime: I'm pretty sure this make the difference!

Oh nice, well on the same note then how lucrative is the ad business if you don't mind sharing? What would a 1000 downloads a day game bring in in terms of profit for example?
