Adobe air

I am unable to update Adobe air because it does not recognize me as the administrator.  I am the administrator aand have been since I got this computer 5 years ago.  I have a program I paid for that will not work without the update.  I've tried numerous times to no avail.  Any help is appreciated.  Thank you
