Adobe Air error

when I click on "adobe download assistant" an adobe air box appears and reads "application descriptor could not be found, try re-installing"  I did but still get the same message.  This was working yesterday and now "out of the blue" I'm getting this message.  I also got the same message with my muse icon, but a re-install solved it.
