Adobe AIR: No version greater than 1.5 will install on Windows 7

This came up while attempting to install Pandora One.  The bundled installer for 2.6 did not work.  It appeared to run successfully, even giving a successful install confirmation message, but running the Pandora app just caused the Adobe AIR user agreement window to pop up.  Clicking "agree" or "cancel" had the same effect: the window disappeared, and Pandora did not launch.  Click Pandora icon again, repeat.

I discovered, by manually uninstalling and reinstalling progressively older versions of AIR, that the install finally succeeded (and Pandora worked) once I got back to AIR 1.5.  That's a fine solution EXCEPT: Every few uses Pandora prompts me to update to 2.7.  (I have tried this numerous times, including after doing a recent registry cleaning.  No good.) That's annoying.  I also can't run some apps that require a newer version of AIR.

I browsed, but couldn't find any other forum threads that seemed to address this specific issue, though I see a LOT of problems with AIR install on Windows 7.

I'm glad for any help.  I'm moderately competent, and happy to post any error logs if you think it will help and you can give me some solid instructions on how to obtain them.

That's odd that the EULA keeps appearing with 2.7.  It sounds like it's having a problem writing to the following directory:

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\AIR

I'm attaching a text file named "eulaAccepted" to this post.  Note this file should not have a file extension.  Can you copy it into the folder referenced above to see if it squelches the EULA dialog for you?

An alternative, though not recommended, is to stick with 1.5 and disable the "update to AIR 2.7" dialog.  This can be done using the Settings Manager utility found at the bottom of this page:

Thanks,

Chris

WORKED.

FYI, there was a same-named file in there (hidden).  I replaced it with the one you attached, uninstalled 1.5, installed 2.7, and that did the trick.  (Of course, Pandora's down at the moment, but that's not your problem!)

I had seen complaints about this on other forums, but no solutions.  Might be something you all can look into.  Thanks!
